 New Smyrna Canal Street Gallery Stroll - Posted: 15-Jan-08

Who: Marc Montesson Promotions in conjunction with the Canal Street Historic District (formerly Mainstreet, Inc.)
What : Gallery Walk Mardi Gras; FOOD, FUN & ENTERTAINMENT
When : Saturday February 2nd, 2008; 4-8pm
Where: Canal Street and Douglas Street in New Smyrna Beach, FL
How: a collaborative effort of the members of Mainstreet (now Canal Street Historic District) and Marc Montesson Productions
Why: To raise awareness of our lovely downtown historic district and all that it has to offer in the way of fine dining, Galleries, shops, antiques as well as the plethora of businesses.
How Much: FREE with the exception of the Beer Garden

For the February 2nd Gallery Walk we are all hosting Gallery Walk Mardi Gras which is a first year event and hosted by over a dozen shops and galleries. It will offer Blues and Jazz at several locations up and down Canal Street as well as at Clay Gallery on Douglas Street a couple blocks away. Canal Street will be filled with music and fun for everyone. At the Pennysaver parking lot the CSHD will host a Beer and Wine Garden to benefit our organization to help reach our goals. Tres Bien Trio is the band and will play 5-8pm there. At the east end of Canal the NSB High School Jazz Ensemble will perform from 4-6 pm and from 6-9pm will be more entertainment tba. Gianna Decigia will be the featured artist at Mosquito Mud Pottery. She will have her portable torch running, making beads as you watch! Like moths to the flame! Clay Gallery will have Ray Guiser on Sax from 4-8pm. On the other end of Canal Street at Shops at 421 and the Antique Mall there will be Richard Young on Sax 6-8pmas well as Artist/Painter Bill Withers. Most shops will offer Mardi Gras favors, masks, beads, etc to make the night more festive!

FOOD!!! Maloney's is offering a taste of New Orleans at the 'garden' as well as in the restaurant with Gumbo; Romesco's will feature Abita Beer and Mufallatti's; Deli Touch will offer Jumbalaya . As well the participating shops will have light fare and refreshments for the evening.

At the conclusion of Gallery Walk on Canal Street, the Marine Discovery Center will run a special water taxi from Riverside Drive at the dock at the east end of the Brannon Center to The Inlet Harbor Restaurant for their Mardi Gras festivities. Taxi leaves at 8:15 pm and returns back to New Smyrna around 11:40 p.m.. Cost for the ride is $ 12 per person.
Participants are encouraged to park on or near Canal Street and walk to the launch. For more information on the taxi call 428-4828.

Gallery Walk is every First Saturday of the month from 4pm to 8pm. It includes up to a dozen shops and galleries on Canal Street and Douglas St. in the Downtown Historic / Arts District of New Smyrna Beach, FL in conjunction with the artist openings at ACA at Harris House and Arts on Douglas. Most of the venues feature artists and offer refreshments and some entertainment. Admission is free.
