Atlantic Center for the Arts celebrates many successes in 2008… over 30 years as a vibrant nonprofit with strong support from patrons, artists, and funders that continues today; 26 years of programming serving thousands of artists; a stellar inaugural year for the Pabst Visitor Center & Gallery; and the 25th anniversary of its major fundraising auction, Horsin' Around, with a history of offering an afternoon in support of the arts that is unparalleled in Central Florida.

From its innovative beginnings on a horse farm (hence the name), to its current staging complete with gourmet food, wines and a vintage car show, the auction continues to attract over 550 affluent arts enthusiasts who spend over $210,000 annually during an afternoon with friends in support of ACA. The April 6, 2008 auction will feature spectacular items in the live auction, in celebration of the silver anniversary of the event.

The auctions feature items covering a wide array of interests and offer phenomenal deals benefiting Atlantic Center for the Arts, a nonprofit artists-in-residence community, and its community outreach facility Atlantic Center at Harris House. Its hallmark is its select and unique auction offerings: trips put together by Atlantic Center trustees, a devout group of Horsin' Around committee members who travel the globe seeking different items, and area businesses who donate exceptional services, interesting items, and gift certificates. The theme for the auction is 'Just Once In Your Life' and includes ideas such as the following:

~ Commission a sculpture, a poem, an oil portrait

~ Tour Brooklyn's renowned jazz pubs… with a musician

~ Spend a week on an island

~ Become an art collector and attend a NYC gallery opening with the artist

~ Take your dad, son, brother, best bud to the nation's premier golf tournament in Georgia

~ Take your mom, daughter, sister, best friend on a whirlwind tour of London

~ Throw a catered party for 12 of your closest friends

The silent auction and wine tasting begin at 11 AM. Lunch, catered by Chef Jason Lafountain of Jason's Corner is served at noon, and the live auction begins at 1 PM; the event concludes by 4 PM. Enjoy a great afternoon with friends in support of the Central Florida arts community! Tickets to the event are $100 each (70% tax-deductible) and include food and drink all day, entertainment, and an auction bidder number; reserved host tables of eight are $1,000.
